Understand Entrepreneur word to know them better

entrepreneur

Etymology: “Entrepreneur” is a loanword from French:

  • Entreprende” (a verb in French) means “to undertake
  • In Sanskrit, “Antha Prerna” (which sounds close to entrepreneur) means “Self motivated

Thus, we can deduct that in ancient times when a person is called as “an entrepreneur”, that person is perceived “as a someone who undertakes some responsibility and pursues a goal with self motivation”. Originally, the word does not necessarily reflects a merchant.

जबकि संकृत में तो आपको “अंत प्रेरणा” शब्द को और भी गहरे से समझा जा सकता है| अगर आप “अंत प्रेरणा” और Entreprende को बार बार बोलेंगे तो ऐसा आभास होगा जैसे यह शब्द एक ही हो|

In sankrit we can still go in depth to understand “Antha Prerna” better. Also if we speak it again and again, would notice that “Antha Prerna” and “Entreprende” may also sound similar.

Etymology: Understand words meaning and origin to study better

English Translation:

These days I notice a difference between recent books and old books that were written some years back. Say a subject Mathematics. Difference is that, old books used to first describe the meaning of word Mathematics before starting the subject. You can say Etymology of the Mathematics. And it was true for each and very subtopics used in that subject. So what are the benefits:
1. By understanding the name of topic, you get better understanding of the topic.
2. When you read the topic again in future, name of topic itself would give the summary of it.
3. When one gets into habbit of understanding words, they can related words used in one subject with words used in other subject. Hence one concept can help us understand other concept. But these days, this approach in not being followed. I am from India where most of the knowledge is available in Sankskrit. But these days, we are studying subjects in English. Now English language has so many words borrowed from different language. Also meaning and spelling of the same word has changed in past years. We study etymology to find the root of the word.  On the other hand, Sanksrit words are from Sankrit only and rules to make the words have also not changed. So it is easy to understand/related words in Sanskrit.

What you have to do?
First try to find the etymology of the english word. But in case you don’t get it or you want to better understand the word then look for similar word in Sankrit. There you WOULD get meaning in details.

Take example of word Entrepreneur:

– Lilavati
– Besides many topics that have been covered, one common thing is that every topic ends with feeling of amazement that how Indian did that in ancient time.

Below mentioned video would talk about Jain religion having references of very large numbers and concept of infinity thousands of years ago. This time was way before many civilizations that we know today.

10 min 58 sec > Jain religion is interesting in many aspect in addition to the concept of non violence. First Thirthankar were born 8 million years ago. This is itself a very large number to think of. Their belief is group of 24 Thirthankars would occur in infinite succession. Infinite number of souls in everyone. Hence complexity of Time, Infinite were discussed in details.
